After a long career as an agency art director, founder of a creative design firm and publishing business and, in retirement, a twenty year stint as a fine art photographer exploring old printing techniques, Cy DeCosse has decided to try his hand at being a “real artist.” The starting point for a photographer is concrete subject matter which he must interpret using imagination and a point of view, but a painter starts with imagination and gives form to fantasies. In painting, the possibilities are endless and the results are never the same twice.
Cy is exploring the classic medium of the early Renaissance, egg tempera, as a preferred painting medium. He is playing with three different means of expression in his paintings: Classic Realism, Fantasy and Geometry.
